Does breakfast feel different when one is sitting under olive trees? I had never thought about this – until I experienced it. My answer: yes, absolutely, it is just wonderful, especially because I can see the ocean when I look across the table! It feels like the South, so Mediterranean, like spring or summer. It feels so distant to everyday life, like a flawlessly designed vacation. And with the morning sun coming out to greet you, the wafting of a light sea breeze and the smell of herbs in the air – it is a truly captivating experience. I wish I could always have breakfast like that, at the ‘Anassa’ in Cyprus, always have dinner like I did in the restaurant ‘Basilico’. It feels almost addictive.

The luxury hotel is located in the west of the Akamas peninsula at a distance of 65 kilometers to the Paphos airport, it is part of Leading Hotels of The World – and its standalone location makes it one of the best destinations on the Mediterranean Sea. What I appreciated particularly was the sense of privacy I felt there, in suites that boast their own ocean-view terraces and a private pool. What reasons are there to get up and leave them? To have breakfast under olive trees for instance. To go to the spa, or bathe in sea water. Or to make those few steps over to the private wedding chapel. They even have that here – in case all the cheerfulness leads to people getting ideas.
